Department's Head's Speech
Science, knowledge, and research are the keys to understanding the mysteries of existence, self-reflection, and strengthening our connection with the Creator. They provide answers to puzzling questions and solutions to life’s challenges. For a nation to advance and ensure sustainable development, it must enhance its knowledge system and produce applied research that serves society and addresses its problems.
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is a field that studies the chemistry of the human body, tracking biochemical reactions of food, drugs, and toxins within cells, across membranes, or in bodily fluids. It determines how beneficial or harmful these substances are and diagnoses diseases caused by biochemical dysfunctions, whether due to organic disorders or genetic mutations. The field also explores ways to detect and treat such conditions through biomarker analysis.
Furthermore, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology delves into nucleic acids and their genetic codes within cells, helping us understand their natural functions, their role in cell division and activities, and the mechanisms behind programmed cell death and aging. This knowledge enables the diagnosis of genetic diseases, whether inherited or acquired, and explores possible treatments.
At the postgraduate level, the department grants academic and professional degrees such as:
- Professional Diploma in Biochemical Analysis
• Professional Diploma in Clinical Nutrition
• Professional Master’s in Clinical Nutrition
• Master’s in Biochemistry
• Ph.D. in Biochemistry
I invite you to join us on an exciting and enlightening academic journey, where we explore the vast ocean of biochemistry and gain profound insights into the inner workings of life, ultimately leading us to appreciate the greatness of the Creator.
Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Kotb El-Sayed
Head of the Department
